The 2026 China Cultural and Tourism Industries Expo concluded its activities yesterday, Sunday, in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin, drawing broad participation from institutions and stakeholders in the cultural and tourism sectors from China and abroad.

Over four days, the expo brought together more than 2,500 institutions from 20 countries and regions, along with 10 international organizations and national professional associations, in an event focused on exploring new opportunities for cooperation and advancing the cultural and tourism industries.

Held across an area of approximately 100,000 square meters, the expo featured 10 main exhibition areas covering a range of fields, including the integration of culture and tourism, the digital economy, tourism equipment, tourist destinations, cultural and tourism consumer products, as well as international cooperation.

The event also served as a platform for showcasing the latest innovations and experiences in the sector and promoting knowledge-sharing among participating professionals and institutions. Its program included 18 professional activities addressing key issues related to industry development, including innovation, interregional cooperation, digital transformation, and the promotion of cultural and tourism consumption.

The conclusion of the expo comes as China’s domestic tourism sector continues to show positive momentum. According to official data, Chinese travelers made approximately 3.46 billion domestic tourist trips during the first half of 2026, representing an increase of 5.4 percent compared with the same period last year.

Miao Muyang, an official at China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said that tourism consumption patterns were increasingly shifting toward higher-quality, more interactive and diversified experiences. He noted that evolving consumer needs were opening up new prospects for the growth of the cultural and tourism industries.

With the conclusion of its activities, the 2026 China Cultural and Tourism Industries Expo provided a platform for strengthening exchanges among stakeholders in the two sectors and exploring new partnership opportunities, as China continues to rely on innovation, technology and diversified tourism experiences to support the growth of its cultural and tourism industries.
