During his Washington visit.. Xi Jinping calls for stable China-U.S. relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China and the United States, as major countries, are capable of finding an appropriate way to coexist amid the transformations taking place in the current era. He made the remarks in a written statement issued after his arrival in the United States for a state visit.
Xi Jinping noted that 2026 represents an important stage in the development of both countries, stressing the particular importance of China-U.S. relations amid the changes taking place around the world.
The Chinese president also referred to the understanding he reached with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, during the latter’s visit to China in May, aimed at building a constructive China-U.S. relationship based on strategic stability. He said that this understanding had provided important strategic guidance for the future development of bilateral relations.
Xi Jinping stressed that China and the United States should continue working in the same direction to establish stable relations combining cooperation with moderate competition, while managing differences in a controllable manner and honoring commitments that serve peace and stability.
