The Kingdom of Morocco is preparing to celebrate, on August 10, 2025, the National Day of Moroccans Residing Abroad—an annual occasion that reflects the continuous care that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, dedicates to the country’s citizens living abroad, whose number exceeds five million people distributed across more than one hundred countries.

This day, established since 2003, is commemorated this year under a strong and expressive theme: “The Digital Transition: Strengthening Proximity Services for Moroccans Around the World.” This choice reflects the strategic shift adopted by the Kingdom to reinforce its relationship with its diaspora through the digitization of services, bringing them closer, and facilitating communication and interaction with national institutions and administrations.

Beyond its symbolic and celebratory dimension, this day also serves as a practical milestone for activating summer support programs overseen by the Department of Moroccans Residing Abroad, affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, in coordination with various partners and in parallel with the “Marhaba” operation. This is part of a comprehensive approach that combines human interaction with technological innovation, placing members of the diaspora at the core of Morocco’s ongoing digital transformation.

This initiative aims to facilitate access to administrative services, support investment, guarantee rights, promote skills, while strengthening the diaspora’s connection to their national identity and consolidating their contribution to the developmental momentum experienced by the Kingdom.

The department responsible for diaspora affairs continues to select annual themes that express the concerns and aspirations of Moroccans abroad, ensuring the renewal of bridges of trust and communication, and involving them in shaping the future Morocco — a Morocco of efficiency, digital justice, and strong belonging.
