Armenia Supports Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative, Describes It as a “Realistic Political Solution”

Armenia has expressed its support for Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative, considering that it “paves the way for strengthening the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.”
This position was expressed during a meeting between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
On this occasion, Mirzoyan recalled the message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in which he stressed “the particular importance of the Moroccan Initiative regarding the Sahara issue,” describing it as a “realistic political solution.”
In his message, Prime Minister Pashinyan also affirmed that United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 constituted a landmark in the process of settling this issue, which “will pave the way for strengthening the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as for peaceful coexistence and prosperity among the peoples of the region.”
During the meeting, the two ministers also discussed new prospects for bilateral cooperation and agreed on concrete measures to be taken in the near future to advance this objective. The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.
