Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to migration issues and international solidarity, Morocco has become the first country to voluntarily contribute to the Resilience Fund launched by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This global fund aims to mobilize $100 million in flexible financing to support lifesaving humanitarian operations and emergency interventions for migrants and communities affected by displacement.

The announcement was made by IOM Director General Amy Pope through an official statement, in which she praised Morocco’s pioneering role in migration governance. She emphasized that this Moroccan initiative represents “a vital support to save lives and drive innovative solutions for the benefit of migrants and vulnerable populations.”

The IOM confirmed on its official platforms that Morocco’s contribution fully embodies the spirit of the Resilience Campaign, which aims to ensure unconditional funding for rapid crisis response, enhanced field intervention capacity, and the development of protection programs and anti-human trafficking measures—ensuring the greatest possible impact on the ground.

In her statement, Ms. Pope added:
“Thanks to Morocco’s support, the IOM remains agile and capable of responding wherever and whenever needed. This is a contribution that truly reflects the spirit of global solidarity.”

This initiative strengthens Morocco’s image as a key player in global migration governance and a staunch defender of solidarity toward vulnerable communities. It also reflects the Kingdom’s consistent commitment to multilateralism and a human-centered approach to migration challenges—one of the cornerstones of Moroccan diplomacy.

It is worth recalling that Morocco was also among the first supporters of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, adopted in Marrakech in 2018, further cementing its role as a regional and international reference in migration matters.
