Morocco–China relations are entering a new chapter with the appointment of Yu Jinsong as the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Morocco, succeeding former ambassador Li Changlin.
She officially assumed her duties in Rabat on September 26, 2025, coinciding with China’s celebration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic.
Who is Yu Jinsong?
Born in February 1968, Yu Jinsong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and is a member of the Communist Party of China. Her career has been closely tied to diplomacy and the development of China’s foreign relations, spanning more than three decades.
Within the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she has held several key positions, including Director of the Diplomatic Training Center and Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department. She also served as a Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, before becoming Consul General in Marseille, France.
Later, she was appointed China’s Ambassador to Seychelles, a role that strengthened her experience in managing relations with both African and European countries. Prior to her arrival in Rabat, she served as Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Diplomacy, an institution dedicated to promoting public diplomacy and international dialogue.
With such a solid background, Yu Jinsong brings to Rabat significant expertise in both European and African affairs. Her appointment sends a clear signal about Morocco’s strategic importance in China’s foreign policy, as a bridge to Africa and a gateway to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
Today, Ambassador Yu Jinsong takes office in Morocco at a time of growing Sino-Moroccan relations, marked by the signing of several strategic agreements and memorandums of understanding in fields such as infrastructure, investment, education, security, technology, and other vital sectors of mutual interest.
In her first address in Morocco, she reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between China and Morocco, and to implementing the agreements reached at the highest level between the leadership of the two countries.
