Chinese President Xi Jinping announces that China will take over BRICS presidency and host the next summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Saturday that China will assume the presidency of the BRICS group next year, a role that will coincide with the country hosting the group’s 19th summit.

China is expected to host the 19th BRICS Summit on this occasion, marking a new stage in the group’s work and efforts to strengthen cooperation among its members.

Xi Jinping made the announcement while attending the 18th BRICS Summit in the Indian capital, New Delhi, where he confirmed that China will take over the leadership of the group in the next phase.
