As part of its efforts to strengthen the sector’s position and enhance its competitiveness in global markets, China has set new targets for the development of the electronic information manufacturing industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, covering 2026 to 2030.

The plan, jointly formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission, projects that the combined annual revenue of major industrial enterprises in the sector, each with annual business revenue exceeding 20 million yuan, will surpass 30 trillion yuan by 2030, equivalent to approximately $4.44 trillion.

The plan also aims to raise research and development spending intensity in the electronic information manufacturing industry to 3.5%, while expanding the adoption of new-generation smart terminals. This reflects Beijing’s focus on innovation and technology as key drivers of industrial development in the coming years.

Against this backdrop, the sector is expected to accelerate the development of internationally competitive technologies and products, particularly in integrated circuits, advanced computing, consumer electronics, basic electronic components and power electronics.
