The OCP Group has announced the commissioning of a new strategic project involving the connection of the seawater desalination plant in Jorf Lasfar to the Khouribga basin, which hosts the largest phosphate mine in the world. This project, named “OCP GREEN WATER”, is part of the Group’s broader efforts to achieve water independence and enhance the sustainability of its industrial operations.

A massive pipeline has been constructed, stretching 203 kilometers, to transport desalinated water from the coastal area to inland regions. With an annual production capacity exceeding 80 million cubic meters, the project is expected to meet a significant portion of the industrial complexes’ water needs—without relying on groundwater or freshwater resources.

This achievement reflects OCP’s environmental vision, which prioritizes innovation and technology in addressing challenges related to water scarcity, especially in a difficult climate context that calls for structural and sustainable solutions.
