Health Ministry: 15 Primary Healthcare Facilities Enter Service in Six Regions Across Morocco

Fifteen new primary healthcare facilities became operational on Tuesday morning in several regions across Morocco, following the completion of rehabilitation and equipment works, as part of efforts to expand basic healthcare services and bring medical care closer to citizens.
The facilities are located across six regions: Casablanca-Settat, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Oriental, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Marrakech-Safi. They will provide medical and nursing services to a population of more than 375,677 people.
The opening of these facilities is part of the ongoing reform of Morocco’s national healthcare system, in line with the Royal Directives aimed at improving the quality of healthcare and bringing services closer to citizens, while supporting the rollout of universal social protection.
The initiative also falls under the national programme to rehabilitate 1,600 primary healthcare facilities, including 500 facilities in 2026, with the aim of establishing a new generation of primary healthcare centres and improving access to essential health services.
The newly operational facilities have been equipped with biomedical equipment and staffed by 50 healthcare professionals, who will provide a range of medical and nursing services, including general medical consultations, nursing care and follow-up for chronic diseases, particularly diabetes, high blood pressure and respiratory diseases.
Services will also include maternal and child healthcare, school health services, health awareness and education, epidemiological surveillance, as well as mobile healthcare services, further strengthening the preventive and curative role of primary healthcare facilities at the local level.
In the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, four facilities have been brought into service across the provinces of Azilal and Khénifra. They include the “Kimi”, “Bouharazen” and “Aït Ouïrar” dispensaries in Azilal, as well as the “Sidi Bouabid” dispensary in Khénifra.
In the Marrakech-Safi region, five facilities in the province of Chichaoua have become operational. These include the Level 2 “Imintanout” urban health centre, the Level 2 “Idouirane” rural health centre, the Level 1 “Mezouda” rural health centre, as well as the two rural dispensaries of “Bouzouka” and “Laâdilat”.
In the Oriental region, three facilities have entered service in the provinces of Guercif and Berkane. They comprise the Level 1 “Ouled Saleh” rural health centre and the “Souihla” rural dispensary in Guercif, as well as the Level 1 “Al Qods” urban health centre in Berkane.
In the Casablanca-Settat region, the Level 1 “Dar Bouazza” urban health centre in Nouaceur province has also become operational. In the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, the Level 2 “Beni Gemil Meksouline” rural health centre in Al Hoceima province has entered service.
In the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, the Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases Diagnostic Centre in Guelmim province has also become operational. The centre aims to strengthen the early detection and diagnosis of tuberculosis, as well as the care and follow-up of patients, while improving diagnostic and monitoring capacities and ensuring continuity of treatment for people suffering from respiratory diseases.
As part of the new generation of primary healthcare facilities, these centres are expected to improve reception and referral services, respond to growing demand for medical care, facilitate access to healthcare and enhance the quality of services provided.
