On the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Deepened Partnership Agreement signed in Moscow in 2016 during the historic visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, co-chaired the 8th session of the Morocco–Russia Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Friday in Moscow along with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev.

This session marks a significant milestone in strengthening the Deepened Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Russian Federation.
The Commission’s proceedings, attended by a senior Moroccan ministerial delegation representing the key sectors of bilateral cooperation, allowed for an assessment of the current state of cooperation and the identification of ways to further strengthen it.
Particular emphasis was placed on several landmark sectors such as agriculture, energy, industry, transport, customs cooperation, education, and culture.
Three legal instruments were finalized and signed during the joint Commission’s proceedings, namely an agreement on cooperation in the field of fisheries, a protocol agreement on the exchange of documents and data concerning the customs value of goods transported between Russia and Morocco, and another protocol agreement on cooperation, information exchange, and mutual assistance within the framework of the unified system of tariff preferences of the Eurasian Economic Union.
This 8th session also provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their shared willingness to elevate Morocco–Russia relations to a more ambitious level through diversified economic and trade exchanges, support for mutual investment, and the development of new forms of sectoral cooperation.
Both sides also agreed to maintain regular political consultations and to ensure effective monitoring on the implementation of the agreements reached, in order to lend their strategic partnership a full scope.
