Morocco and the Renewal of Its Commitment to the Palestinian Cause: A Royal Vision and Firm Positions

ALDAR / Analysis
During its participation in the emergency Arab summit on Palestine, held yesterday, Tuesday, in Cairo, the Kingdom of Morocco reaffirmed its firm positions on the Palestinian cause, relying on a clear royal vision based on defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and supporting peace efforts through a comprehensive approach that goes beyond temporary crisis management.
The outcomes of the summit, particularly the Cairo Declaration, reflected the Arab world’s appreciation for the role played by the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as for the concrete efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency in supporting the residents of Jerusalem and strengthening their resilience.
Amid the rapidly evolving developments in the Palestinian issue, Morocco emphasized during the summit the need to unify Palestinian ranks as a fundamental prerequisite for fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Moroccan diplomacy also highlighted the importance of ensuring a clear political horizon that puts an end to the recurring cycle of violence, stressing that reconstruction, despite its significance, cannot achieve its objectives without an integrated political vision that prevents future tragedies from recurring.
The Moroccan vision, conveyed to the summit by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita, was not limited to the situation in Gaza but extended to the Palestinian cause as a whole. This approach stems from the Kingdom’s belief in the necessity of sustainable solutions that address the root causes of the conflict and create favorable conditions for achieving a just and comprehensive peace. In this context, Morocco emphasized that any reconstruction effort must be conditional on political guarantees that prevent the repetition of destruction, which requires an international and regional consensus to support a genuine political process leading to a two-state solution.
Morocco’s presence at the Arab summit was not merely symbolic but rather a reaffirmation of its steadfast commitment to supporting Palestinian rights, in line with its historical responsibilities and its role in defending Al-Quds Asharif. The Kingdom remains convinced that regional stability cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive solution that puts an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
