Moroccans living abroad—whose number exceeds five million citizens spread across more than one hundred countries—enjoy special attention from His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. This care is reflected in his High Directives aimed at improving their conditions and strengthening their ties with their country of origin. In this context, the department in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad mobilizes all necessary resources to support members of the diaspora during their summer stay in Morocco through rich and diverse programs that highlight the strategic importance of this community in the national development process.

At the forefront of these initiatives is the celebration of the National Day of Moroccans Living Abroad, held every year on August 10, coinciding with the Marhaba operation. This event seeks to reinforce channels of communication with Moroccans abroad and showcase their contributions to the Kingdom’s economic and social revival. Since its launch in 2003, the Ministry has consistently chosen relevant themes, including mobilizing skills, encouraging investment, improving services and rights, and addressing issues related to women and youth. This year’s theme is digital transformation, under the slogan: “The Digitalization Drive: Enhancing Proximity Services for Moroccans Around the World”, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to a comprehensive digital dynamic aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing administrative efficiency. The celebration is held across the Kingdom’s provinces and prefectures, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, to enable the diaspora to participate actively while in the homeland.

The department also marks the annual Throne Day celebrations, a unifying national occasion to renew bonds of allegiance to the Alaouite Throne. This year, around one hundred Moroccan expatriate professionals and investors from 60 countries were invited to take part in the official ceremonies, organized meticulously in coordination with Moroccan diplomatic missions abroad. On the sidelines, a networking meeting was held under the theme: “Moroccans Living Abroad: A Key Lever for Morocco’s Development”, discussing ways to mobilize skills and support project holders, with the participation of representatives from the Foreign Exchange Office and the 13th Region of Moroccan Entrepreneurs Abroad within the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises.

The summer program pays special attention to youth, with the organization of the 16th edition of the Summer University for their benefit, held from July 5 to 13, 2025, gathering 300 young men and women from 30 countries, aged between 18 and 25. Since its inception in 2009, this initiative has welcomed nearly 4,000 young participants, aiming to instill Moroccan identity in their hearts and foster their integration into host societies. This year’s program included seminars and workshops on the national cause, Moroccan culture, and sports, as well as opportunities to learn about investment incentives and visits to historical sites—making it a rich experience combining knowledge, identity, and openness.

Through these integrated initiatives, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him, translates his strategic vision of making Moroccans around the world a bridge for cultural dialogue and an active component in Morocco’s development, while ensuring all conditions that strengthen their sense of belonging and enduring connection to their homeland.
