As part of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Rabat, in cooperation with the Diplomatic Club and the Confucius Institute affiliated with Mohammed V University, organized a special cultural event highlighting the growing role of women in society and economic development.

During the event, which was presided over by Chinese Ambassador Li Changlin, he emphasized that the gathering marked three decades since the Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in 1995. This historic conference was a turning point in the global struggle for gender equality and women’s rights. The Beijing Declaration, adopted at that time, became an ambitious roadmap for improving women’s conditions and advancing their empowerment.

In his speech, the ambassador stressed that this cultural celebration aimed to honor women and showcase their essential contributions to societal progress. He also announced that China intends to organize a new World Conference on Women this year, making this anniversary an opportunity to reflect on the shared goals of nations regarding women’s rights and equality.

The event featured a variety of artistic performances inspired by Chinese heritage, including music, singing, and traditional dances, along with classical musical instrument demonstrations and interactive activities in calligraphy, painting, traditional Chinese medicine, and a tea ceremony. Guests also had the chance to explore the richness of Chinese cuisine.

The ambassador concluded by affirming that such cultural events strengthen mutual understanding between peoples, which is a cornerstone of strong bilateral relations. He expressed hope that other countries would also organize similar cultural days in Morocco in the future, reinforcing the values of cultural exchange and openness.
