As part of the growing partnership between the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of ICESCO, received on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Mr. Li Changlin, Ambassador of China to the Kingdom of Morocco, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rabat. The meeting focused on prospects for bilateral cooperation and arrangements for ICESCO’s participation in the Ministerial Meeting on Dialogue Among Civilizations, scheduled to take place in the Chinese capital, Beijing, on July 10–11.

The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of this partnership in deepening cultural and civilizational ties between China and the Islamic world. Dr. AlMalik emphasized that ICESCO’s openness to non-member states enhances opportunities for international cooperation and expands the organization’s positive civilizational impact.

A key topic of discussion was the participation of a high-level ICESCO delegation, headed by the Director-General, in this international ministerial meeting, which is held under the theme “Protecting the Diversity of Human Civilizations for Global Peace and Development.” This theme aligns perfectly with the Organization’s vision and reflects its firm commitment to promoting dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples.

Dr. AlMalik also highlighted the importance of the delegation’s visit to China’s Shaanxi Province on the sidelines of the meeting, noting the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as its leading institutions in the fields of advanced technology.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador praised ICESCO’s invitation to this major international event, stating that the Organization’s presence would help showcase its vital role in fostering civilizational dialogue. He also noted that the event would be an opportunity to exchange successful experiences and introduce Chinese institutions to ICESCO’s areas of work.

The meeting also touched on future joint projects, including organizing scientific conferences and cultural events — most notably, the hosting of Chinese Cultural Days at ICESCO’s headquarters in Rabat. Discussions also covered initiatives to support Chinese language education for youth in the Islamic world, in order to enhance linguistic and cultural understanding between nations and open new horizons for academic and educational cooperation.
