Under the theme “Youth in Dialogue with Moroccan and Chinese Civilisations”, the Confucius Institute affiliated with Mohammed V University in Rabat hosted a cultural and academic event on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the presence of a high-level Chinese delegation led by Mohammed Benhamou, the university’s Vice-President in charge of Governance, representing its President, Mohammed Ghachi.

The event was also attended by Mo Peng, Vice-Mayor of Beijing, Yu Jinsong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco, as well as the institute’s directors, Karima El Yetribi and Dai Xiaotzi, alongside several academic officials, representatives of Beijing Municipality and institute staff.

The occasion featured an award ceremony honouring the top-performing students in the Chinese-language cultural speech contest. Mohammed Benhamou presented the first prizes to Fatima Zahra Taher El Youssfi, Rania El Mehrmi and Arwa El Abyad, in recognition of their abilities and outstanding participation in the competition.

Other awards were also presented, including those for Outstanding Speech Coach and Best Organising Unit, as part of efforts to encourage educational and cultural initiatives related to learning the Chinese language.

The event concluded with a tour of the “Charming Beijing” exhibition, alongside the cultural exhibitions held in the institute’s courtyard, offering attendees an opportunity to discover different aspects of Chinese culture and its civilisational heritage.

This initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between Morocco and China and consolidate the friendly relations between the two countries through expanding intellectual and cultural exchanges. It also contributes to reinforcing the role of university institutions in building bridges between peoples and making education and culture key drivers of rapprochement and openness to international experiences.
