A Promising Touristic Summer in Morocco… with the Need for Firmness Against Chaos

By Iman Al Aloui – ALDAR

Summer 2025 is expected to witness an unprecedented boom in Morocco’s tourism sector, with rising flight bookings and fully booked hotels across major tourist cities—heralding an exceptional season in terms of turnout. This growing influx reflects the Kingdom’s appeal as a safe and diverse destination and comes at a time when Morocco is preparing to host major sporting events, most notably the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.

Yet amid this momentum, a critical question arises: Can Morocco maintain a careful balance between warm hospitality and firm enforcement of public order?

Relying solely on numbers isn’t enough. Quality remains essential—not only in the services provided to tourists, but also in preserving the country’s character, security, and the dignity of both its citizens and visitors.

In recent years, certain unruly behaviors have tarnished Morocco’s tourism image—reckless street stunts, staged fights, and provocative content on social media. These actions do not reflect the majority, but they do require a firm stance and clear messaging.

In this context, many hope the authorities will strengthen their on-the-ground presence during the summer season and send a clear message ahead of AFCON: There is no place for those who seek to create disorder. The law will be applied without leniency, including immediate deportation of anyone proven to have disrupted public order or violated the law.

On the other hand, Morocco remains open to all those who come in good faith—genuine tourists, families seeking enjoyment and exploration, and lovers of the country’s culture and history. These visitors will be met with the same warmth and hospitality they’ve always known from a people renowned for tolerance and generosity.

Summer 2025 is not just an opportunity to boost tourism figures, but also a test of Morocco’s ability to be a welcoming nation with strong institutions—one that knows when to open its doors… and when to firmly close them to those who disregard the rules of hospitality.
