U.S. Congressman Calls for Urgent Designation of the “Polisario” as a Terrorist Organization, Highlights Hudson Institute Analysis Stressing Group’s Threat to Regional Stability

U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson drew attention with a post on the platform X (formerly Twitter), in which he called on the U.S. administration to designate the “Polisario Front” as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, stating that this designation is “long overdue” and that former President Donald Trump “will fix this mistake.”

In his tweet, Wilson expressed gratitude for an analysis published by the Hudson Institute, emphasizing that the Polisario poses a real threat to regional stability and that its “unlawful actions” can no longer be tolerated.

He wrote:
“Polisario must be designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Trump will fix it.”

These statements reflect a firm U.S. position from a prominent member of Congress on the Western Sahara issue, and could reignite debates within U.S. political circles regarding the role of the Polisario and its alleged ties to trafficking networks and extremist groups operating in the Sahel and Sahara regions.
