An American Congressman praises the partnership with Morocco and reaffirms his support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara

U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, representing Florida and Chairman of the House Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs Committee, praised the depth of U.S.-Morocco relations following his meeting with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Morocco’s Ambassador to Washington, Youssef Amrani.

In a tweet posted on his official account, Diaz-Balart stated that, as a “proud member of the parliamentary coalition for Morocco,” he was honored to discuss the importance of the bilateral relationship between Rabat and Washington, emphasizing his strong support for former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara.

He added that, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has become a strategic ally of the United States and an important partner in supporting peace in the Middle East, especially after joining the Abraham Accords.

The American Congressman concluded his statement by reaffirming the need to continue strengthening the shared principles between the two countries and to take a firm stand against repressive regimes around the world.
