Significant Progress in Road Connection Between Morocco and Mauritania… 95% Completion Rate

The construction of the road connection project between Morocco and Mauritania is making significant progress, with a completion rate of 95%. This new road extends over a distance of 93 kilometers, linking the Moroccan city of Smara to the Mauritanian border. The project is part of a series of successive road infrastructure programs aimed at enhancing connectivity between the two countries, with a total cost of approximately 49.72 million dirhams.
This road is of great strategic importance as it will enhance mobility and trade exchange between Morocco and Mauritania, facilitating the faster and safer movement of goods and people between the two nations. The project will provide a direct and efficient road route, offering flexibility to meet the needs of both local markets and stimulate regional economic growth.
Currently, the remaining section of the road, spanning 53 kilometers, is under construction at a cost of 28.24 million dirhams. The progress in this section has reached 88%, reflecting significant efforts to complete the project on schedule.
This project is expected to have long-term positive effects, both economically and in strengthening relations between the two countries. It also reflects Morocco’s commitment to fostering regional development.
