A recent international ranking has confirmed that Morocco’s high-speed train, Al-Boraq, ranks fifth globally in terms of speed, on par with its French and Japanese counterparts—both of which are considered symbols of advanced technology in the field. While Chinese trains dominate the top three positions, Al-Boraq has secured its place among the world’s fastest, reflecting the remarkable development of Morocco’s transportation infrastructure.

Since its inauguration in 2018, Al-Boraq has revolutionized Morocco’s transport sector, offering a fast and comfortable journey between Casablanca and Tangier, reaching speeds of 320 km/h. This achievement has made it a successful model for high-speed rail in Africa and the Arab world. It also demonstrates Morocco’s commitment to infrastructure development and enhancing connectivity between key cities, contributing to economic growth and investment attraction.

According to the latest ranking, Chinese trains lead the global high-speed rail industry, maintaining their dominance through massive investments in cutting-edge railway technology. However, Al-Boraq’s inclusion in the top five—alongside France and Japan—highlights Morocco’s growing position in the railway sector and showcases the success of its strategic partnerships with international stakeholders.

Morocco’s ambitions do not stop here. Plans are underway to expand the high-speed rail network to include cities such as Marrakech and Agadir, further enhancing sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions. With this achievement, Morocco continues to cement its global presence as a leader in advanced infrastructure, reinforcing its ambition to be among the world’s top nations in modern transportation.
