As part of its vision to develop the Umrah sector and achieve full digital transformation, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched a comprehensive electronic platform that allows international pilgrims to complete all Umrah procedures directly, without the need for any intermediary or agency. This initiative represents a strategic step aimed at simplifying procedures and providing a smooth and secure experience for pilgrims from around the world.
The platform allows pilgrims to choose from integrated packages that include accommodation, transportation, and tourist programs, or to select services individually according to their needs. It is fully integrated with Saudi government systems, ensuring rapid visa issuance and easy trip management. The platform also supports seven languages to meet the needs of international pilgrims and features an easy-to-use digital interface that enables them to track all details of their journey in a single step.
The Saudi General Authority for Statistics revealed that the number of pilgrims during the first quarter of this year exceeded 10.2 million, while the number of international pilgrims surpassed 500,000, marking a significant increase compared to previous periods. This growing trend reflects global interest in performing Umrah rituals and affirms Saudi Arabia’s position as a distinguished religious destination worldwide.
Experts indicate that this digital platform is not merely a convenience for pilgrims but also serves as an important economic driver that strengthens the religious tourism sector in the Kingdom and supports Saudi companies operating in transportation, accommodation, and tourism services. The digital transformation is expected to reduce operational costs and improve service quality, contributing to higher pilgrim satisfaction and increasing annual numbers.
This initiative is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to develop digital infrastructure in the Hajj and Umrah sectors and to realize Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Umrah and Hajj experience into a global model of digital innovation and excellence in service. Officials confirm that the Kingdom continues to develop additional services such as electronic payment and smart trip management to ensure a fully integrated and secure experience for all pilgrims.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia is recognized as one of the leading countries in implementing digital transformation in religious services, reflecting its commitment to facilitating access to the holy sites and enhancing its position on the global religious tourism map, while providing a sophisticated digital Umrah experience in line with the highest international standards.
