Minister Welcomes Positive Results of 2nd edition of Gitex Africa in Marrakech

The minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, welcomed the positive results of Gitex Africa 2024, which was marked by a strong participation of tech giants, startups and investors from over 130 countries.

This 2nd edition paved the way to significant commercial transactions and new partnerships and helped attract investments from various stakeholders present at this event, Mezzour told MAP at the closing ceremony of this event (May 29-31).

She underlined that her department paid for the participation costs of 200 Moroccan start-ups, in order to allow them to benefit from the great opportunities offered by this event.

On the sidelines of this event, the ministry established several partnerships for the development of Moroccan start-ups, the minister delegate said.

The ministry also signed a set of agreements, including an agreement aimed at launching a training program for 15,000 young people across the kingdom’s different regions in the digital sector, said Ms. Mezzour.

It is also about the expansion of the “Jobintech” program, which offers intensive training to young Moroccans to support them in their efforts to access the job market, she added.

An agreement with Oracle was also inked to launch two public cloud regions with a total investment of 1.4 billion dirhams, the minister recalled.

Ms. Mezzour said that Gitex Africa 2024 was marked this year by a pavilion dedicated to the exhibition of digital public services with the support of the ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, noting that several of these services received prizes at the closing ceremony of this event.

This event made it possible to hold meetings with several African ministers in order to deepen partnerships and cooperation, as part of Morocco’s commitment to socio-economic development in Africa and South-South cooperation, in line with the forward-looking vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
