Arab League Official : Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency Is Model in Tangible Solidarity

The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, presents through its social, educational, cultural and health projects and initiatives, a tangible and visible model of solidarity on the ground, the Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League for the Media and Communication Department, Ahmed Rachid Khattabi, said on Tuesday in Rabat.

Speaking at the opening session of the International Colloquium on “The role of the media in promoting the civilizational identity of Al-Quds Asharif”, Khattabi stressed that this city has been a crucible of tolerance, harmony and coexistence throughout history, noting that today it needs all forms of support, including joint action by the Arab media, to promote its spiritual aspect and its legal and historical status and “raise international public awareness of its specificity and the nullity of Israeli measures to alter its authentic identity.”

He added that unilateral Israeli practices that deliberately legitimize settlements, forced evacuations of homes, confiscation of property and restrictions on individual freedoms, including freedom of access to places of worship in accordance with international laws and covenants, call on all public and private Arab media players to shed light on the future of Al-Quds and the situation of its population.

Khattabi considered that concerted and coordinated efforts by all the partners concerned and the media elite are the right approach to achieve the required effectiveness in actions and contributions aimed at supporting Al-Quds.

For his part, the Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Information, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, emphasized the need to establish mechanisms to activate the decisions taken at previous Councils of Arab Ministers of Information, stressing that Al-Quds needs all Arab political and media efforts to protect and defend its sanctity, history and cultural heritage.
