China urges BRICS parliaments to strengthen cooperation and adapt to global changes

ALDAR /
China has called on the legislative bodies of BRICS member countries to strengthen solidarity and step up cooperation in response to ongoing global changes, contributing to the development of a fairer and more equitable international order.

The call was made by Zheng Jianbang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, during his participation in the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, held in India on Monday and Tuesday.
The Chinese official noted that BRICS countries have emerged as a major force among the countries of the Global South, both in terms of their presence on the international stage and their growing role in global affairs.
On this occasion, Zheng stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation as a key pillar of the partnership among BRICS members. He highlighted its role in laying stronger foundations for joint cooperation, reinforcing institutional mechanisms and addressing governance challenges in ways that serve the common interests of member states.
In this context, he urged the national parliaments of BRICS countries to play a leading role in keeping pace with the changing times, strengthening coordination and solidarity, and working towards a more just and equitable international order.
