Arab Plan for Gaza Reconstruction Worth $53 Billion Without Displacing Residents

ALDAR/

The majority of Arab League member states, with the exception of Algeria and Tunisia, have approved a large-scale plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, with a budget of up to $53 billion, without affecting or displacing its residents. This initiative aims to reconstruct the destroyed infrastructure, support essential services, and enhance the economic capacity of the Strip, amid the catastrophic humanitarian conditions caused by the ongoing conflict.

This move is part of regional and international efforts to alleviate Palestinian suffering and restore life in Gaza, which has witnessed extensive destruction of residential buildings and vital facilities. The plan reflects an Arab consensus on the necessity of supporting the Strip while affirming the rejection of any plans to empty it of its inhabitants.

Given these developments, the prospects for implementing the plan remain linked to political and logistical challenges, as well as the mechanism for securing funding and ensuring that it is not obstructed by any hostile parties. Nonetheless, the approval of this project represents a glimmer of hope for the residents of the Strip, who face dire conditions that require urgent intervention at both regional and international levels.
