“Chinese Spring Festival”: An Official Celebration of the 2026 Chinese New Year in Rabat Reflecting the Strength of Morocco–China Relations

The Mohammed V Theatre in Rabat hosted, yesterday Wednesday, the official celebration of the 2026 Chinese New Year, in a distinctive festive atmosphere that reflected the depth of cultural relations between Morocco and China. The event was held in the presence of Ms. Yu Jinsong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Morocco, along with prominent diplomatic and institutional figures from both countries.
The ceremony brought together several notable personalities, including Zina Idhili, Vice-President of the House of Representatives, Nabil Benabdellah, former Secretary-General of the Party of Progress and Socialism, and Fathallah Oualalou, former Minister and former Secretary-General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in addition to officials and representatives of Moroccan and Chinese institutions.

The evening featured a variety of artistic performances, including traditional Chinese dances and shows that showcased the richness of Chinese cultural heritage and gave the celebration a vibrant festive character.
Organized under the theme “Happy Chinese Spring Festival, the Enchanting Wonders of the Silk Road,” the event celebrated the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse according to the Chinese calendar. Artistic and entertainment performances were presented, receiving strong engagement and interaction from the audience.

In her address, the Chinese ambassador emphasized that celebrating the Chinese New Year represents an important opportunity to strengthen cultural rapprochement between the Moroccan and Chinese peoples, promote the values of civilizational exchange and openness, and highlighted the solidity of the friendship and cooperation relations uniting the two countries.

The celebration concluded in a joyful and festive atmosphere reflecting the spirit of openness and cultural closeness between Morocco and China. The artistic performances were widely appreciated by attendees, confirming the importance of this cultural event as a bridge for dialogue, mutual understanding between peoples, and the consolidation of friendship and cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
