The Republic of Senegal hailed, on Monday in Rabat, the initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Sovereign’s continuous commitment to the development of the African continent.

In the Joint Communiqué adopted following talks between minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, with Senegalese minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad; Mr. Cheikh Niang, both parties lauded the enlightened Vision and commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, and H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, to peace, stability, and development on the African continent, as well as the promotion of a moderate, open, and tolerant Islam.
Referring to the Atlantic African States Process and the significant opportunities for synergy and cooperation between the concerned states, Mr. Bourita and Niang stressed the importance of coordination and consultation to turn the African Atlantic space into a zone of co-emergence, stability, and shared development in strategic areas such as the environment, food security, health, energy, logistics interconnection, resource pooling and exchange of experiences.
The two parties also welcomed the progress achieved in the implementation of the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline, linking Nigeria and Morocco, a symbol of South-South cooperation, further stressing that Senegal will play a key role in the first phase of the project, which includes the section linking it to Mauritania.
Regarding His Majesty the King’s Initiative to promote landlocked Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic, among efforts to strengthen integration and development in the Region, the two ministers reaffirmed their willingness to continue consultations with all States concerned for its implementation within the framework of an inclusive and mutually beneficial partnership.
Addressing regional and international issues of common interest, they welcomed the shared views of Rabat and Dakar on major issues affecting peace, security, and stability on the Continent, and reiterated their commitment to working together to reinforce African unity and promote pragmatic and solidarity-based South-South cooperation, in accordance with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.
The two ministers also reaffirmed their willingness to support efforts to peacefully resolve disputes in Africa, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
