Minister of Equipment and Water, Mr. Nizar Baraka, received yesterday, Monday 17 November 2025, at the ministry’s headquarters in Rabat, Ms. Yu Jinsong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco.

This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the growing momentum of Moroccan–Chinese relations across various fields, since the historic visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, to China in 2016, which laid the foundations of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the talks, the Minister highlighted Morocco’s major achievements in the road, water, and port sectors, emphasizing the significant opportunities these areas offer for enhancing the exchange of expertise with the Chinese side, particularly in advanced technologies, training programs, and tripartite cooperation projects benefiting African countries.

For her part, the Ambassador noted that the upcoming visit of H.E. Mr. Li Guoying, China’s Minister of Water Resources, to Morocco from 30 November to 3 December 2025, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Water Congress, will provide an opportunity for high-level meetings and direct insight into the major water management projects carried out by the Kingdom.

Mr. Baraka also commended the role of Chinese companies operating in Morocco, expressing his commitment to further strengthening their presence and contributions to future development projects.
Ambassador Yu Jinsong also highlighted China’s major strategic initiatives, particularly the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which serve as essential frameworks for strengthening partnerships with African countries in general, and with Morocco in particular.
She also referred to the orientations of China’s Fifteenth Five-Year Development Plan, which reflects the country’s openness to investment and international cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Moroccan–Chinese partnership, particularly in addressing water-related challenges and developing future projects that benefit both nations.
