The capital, Rabat, hosted on Monday evening a high-level diplomatic reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event was attended by leading political and diplomatic figures, as well as representatives of Moroccan and international cultural organizations, to welcome Her Excellency Ms. Yu Jinsong, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Morocco, on the occasion of her assumption of office.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Yu Jinsong delivered an official speech, in which she welcomed all attendees and emphasized the importance of the event for celebrating China’s national day and strengthening bilateral relations between China and Morocco.
She highlighted that since its founding on October 1, 1949, China has achieved rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, guided by the Communist Party of China to achieve modernization with Chinese characteristics.
The ambassador added that 2025 marks the final year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, noting the country’s continued reforms and openness, while maintaining economic stability and enhancing social vitality. She highlighted progress in key sectors, including high-tech industries, manned space programs, and artificial intelligence, alongside a 5.3% GDP growth during the first half of 2025.
She also reaffirmed China’s commitment to an open global economy and a multilateral trading system, stressing that investing in China represents a promising opportunity for the future.
On the historical and diplomatic front, Ambassador Yu Jinsong recalled the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II and the reunification of Taiwan, stating that the complete reunification of China is irreversible and praising Morocco’s support for the “One China” principle. She also lauded the global governance reform initiative announced by President Xi Jinping, emphasizing China’s commitment to working with all countries to promote a fairer and more equitable global system.
Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Yu Jinsong noted that Sino-Moroccan cooperation has seen strong momentum since the announcement of the strategic partnership in 2016, citing recent meetings between President Xi Jinping and H.R.H. Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, as well as the success of joint projects such as “Gushion Hi-Tech” and “Sunrise TexTile.”
She also highlighted progress in establishing a strategic dialogue mechanism between the foreign ministries of the two countries and strengthening cooperation in medical, cultural, and economic fields.
In recognition of Chinese medical missions to Morocco over the past fifty years, the ambassador praised the contribution of over 2,000 Chinese doctors who treated millions of patients, inviting attendees to honor their efforts and sacrifices.
In concluding her speech, Ambassador Yu Jinsong reaffirmed her determination to work closely with her Moroccan partners to enhance mutual political trust, expand practical, humanitarian, and cultural cooperation, and elevate bilateral relations to new heights. She also extended a special greeting to the Chinese community and Chinese students in Morocco, highlighting their role in strengthening bridges of friendship between the two peoples.
She closed her address by citing proverbs from Chinese and Moroccan popular traditions, noting that progress and achievements are made through action rather than words, and expressing her wishes for prosperity for China, strengthened friendship between the two countries, and happiness and health for all attendees.
