During a joint press conference with the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, reaffirmed Morocco’s firm position regarding the recent events in Qatar. He stressed that any aggression against an Arab state constitutes a direct attack on its sovereignty and the security of its citizens.
The minister recalled that His Majesty King Mohammed VI issued clear instructions to condemn these attacks and express full solidarity with Qatar. He also called for an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit to address these unacceptable developments.
Bourita described the situation as “extremely serious,” emphasizing the need for a responsible response from the international community, particularly the UN Security Council and its permanent members, to prevent any escalation that could destabilize the region.
He warned that these aggressions and related statements pose a real threat to regional stability, noting that a lack of prompt and wise action could have serious political and security consequences, potentially affecting the lives of people in the region.
The minister concluded by highlighting that Morocco is closely monitoring the situation and advocates for unified Arab and international positions to protect regional security, reflecting Morocco’s long-standing strategy of defending national sovereignty and maintaining Arab and Islamic stability.
This statement comes amid intense diplomatic activity in the region, aimed at mitigating the impact of recent events, while underscoring the central role of Arab collective action in ensuring stability and preventing potential escalation.
