French President Emmanuel Macron has decided to suspend the agreement signed in 2013, which granted holders of Algerian official and diplomatic passports an exemption from visa requirements.
The decision comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries over the past several months, which began when Algeria expelled a group of French officials. Paris responded with a similar measure, before the confrontation shifted to the realm of consular agreements.
