The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal reaffirmed, on Monday in Rabat, their shared commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, by elevating it to more ambitious heights, based on the principles of solidarity, mutual trust, and shared development.

In the Joint Communiqué adopted following talks between minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and his Senegalese peer, Mr. Cheikh Niang, both parties welcomed the excellent and exemplary ties between Morocco and Senegal, based on exceptional historical, spiritual, and human relations, and nourished by the unwavering friendship between His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal.

The two ministers agreed to bolster bilateral cooperation in the priority areas of human development, trade, investment, transport, tourism, consular affairs, agriculture, health, vocational training, fisheries, energy and infrastructure, while ensuring the active participation of both countries’ private sectors in investment and co-development initiatives, in accordance with Morocco’s New Development Model and the “Senegal 2050” Vision.

To this end, they announced that the 15th session of the Morocco-Senegal Joint High Commission would be held in order to take stock of cooperation projects and identify new areas likely to diversify and reinforce the existing strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries, as highlighted in the Joint Communiqué.

In the same spirit, Mr. Bourita and Niang agreed to hold the Joint Consular Commission in order to strengthen coordination in areas of mobility, consular services, and protection of both countries’ communities, in the spirit of the Convention on Establishment inked on March 15, 1964.

Similarly, they announced that the Morocco-Senegal Economic Days would be held in Dakar in 2026, with the aim of strengthening the bilateral economic partnership advocated by the two Heads of State, in particular through promoting cross-investment between the private sectors of the two countries.

On the consular front, they welcomed the important role played by the communities established on both sides as a vector of economic growth and a bridge between the two countries and, in this regard, undertook to continue and increase efforts to facilitate their socio-economic integration.

The two ministers, who held in-depth and fruitful discussions on several issues of common interest at the bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels, agreed to maintain regular political consultation and to mutually support each other’s candidacies within regional and international bodies, in a spirit of fraternal solidarity and shared trust.

During these talks, Niang invited Mr. Bourita to visit Senegal at a date to be agreed upon by both parties.
