In a symbolic gesture reflecting the depth of cultural ties between Morocco and China, Chinese Ambassador to Rabat, Mr. Li Changlin, paid an official visit to the Directorate of Royal Archives, where he was received by its director, Ms. Bahija Simou.
This visit forms part of a joint effort to rediscover the historical roots of Sino-Moroccan relations by consulting archival documents that trace the longstanding friendship between the two nations. Ambassador Li expressed his admiration for Morocco’s documentary richness, stating: “Through documents, we find our roots and the origins of our friendships.” He added that revisiting shared history lays a solid foundation for building a future based on cooperation and mutual understanding.
For her part, Ms. Simou welcomed the initiative, considering it a clear sign of China’s interest in shared historical memory. She emphasized the openness of the Royal Archives Directorate to cooperation with friendly countries in order to preserve and promote historical heritage.
This visit highlights the willingness of both countries to expand their partnership beyond political and economic dimensions, embracing culture and history as enduring bridges that strengthen people-to-people ties and bolster the growing strategic partnership between Rabat and Beijing.
