Former Istiqlal Minister and Leader Mohamed Louafa Passes Away

Former Istiqlal Minister and leader Mohamed Louafa died on Sunday in Rabat at the age of 72, following an illness, his family has said.

The deceased was appointed Minister of National Education in 2012, then Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of General Affairs and Governance in 2013.

A former member of the executive committee of the Istiqlal Party, Louafa had served as ambassador to several countries, notably India, Iran and Brazil.

He had also chaired the Marrakech municipal council between 1983 and 1992.
