Storm of Criticism in Colombia: Calls to Designate the “Polisario” as a Terrorist Organization After Exposure of Its Suspicious Ties

ALDAR/
Political and media voices in Colombia have been rising in warning against the dangers posed by the “Polisario” Front, following the release of a report by the American Hudson Institute that revealed its close ties with international terrorist networks.
Senator Paola Holguín, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Colombian Senate, posted on the platform X (formerly Twitter) a message explicitly calling for the designation of the Polisario Front as a foreign terrorist organization. She referenced alarming and verified information contained in the American report concerning the nature of the group’s activities and its backers.

Similarly, Senator Germán Blanco, a member of the Constitutional Committee, strongly rejected Bogotá’s recognition of the so-called “Sahrawi Republic,” basing his position on the same report. According to him, it exposes the true face of the Polisario and its connections to cross-border extremist networks.

Warnings were not limited to the political arena. The Colombian daily newspaper Primicia Diario published a detailed investigation under the title: “Camouflaged Terrorism: The Hidden Face of the Polisario Front Exposed in Washington.” The article reviewed the findings of the Hudson Institute report, presenting evidence and analyses confirming the group’s involvement in illegal activities that threaten both regional and international security.

These developments come at a time when international calls are increasing to reassess some countries’ positions toward the Polisario Front, amid growing suspicions about its ties with extremist groups and suspicious organizations.
