China Urges Washington to Halt Pressure and Reaffirms Willingness to Cooperate Without Compromising Its Interests

China has called on the United States to put an end to its policies of threats and blackmail amid rising trade tensions between the two nations, stressing that the door to dialogue remains open, provided that pressure and escalation are abandoned.
In statements to the press, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that Beijing does not seek to ignite a trade war but is fully prepared to defend its economic interests if necessary.
These remarks come as growing signs indicate that Washington is pushing its trade partners to reduce their economic dealings with China in an effort to pressure Beijing during ongoing tariff negotiations.
According to circulating reports, the U.S. administration plans to leverage these negotiations to increase pressure on China and tighten the grip on its trade influence—a move that may hinder de-escalation efforts between both sides.
For its part, the Chinese Foreign Ministry affirmed that the country is continuing to strengthen its economic ties with new partners and is working to broaden areas of cooperation and open up further to foreign investment. It stressed that participating in a fair trade environment is more beneficial than engaging in fruitless conflicts.
In a related context, spokesperson Lin Jian stated during a press conference marking the launch of the China International Consumer Products Expo in Hainan Province that China prefers to act in a spirit of partnership and cooperation rather than fall into confrontation—especially amid global uncertainty and economic turbulence.
