Morocco Tops Global List in Green Hydrogen Production from Wind Energy

ALDAR/
Morocco has become one of the top ten countries globally in the field of green hydrogen production from wind energy, with its production capacity expected to reach 26.61 gigawatts. This ranking reflects the kingdom’s significant ambition to become a major hub for clean energy on the international stage.
According to recently published data in Washington, the Moroccan project is divided into three main phases: 100 megawatts of ongoing projects, 4.01 gigawatts in the pre-construction phase, and 22.5 gigawatts from announced projects.
This accelerated growth indicates Morocco’s desire to capitalize on its exceptional wind energy potential while meeting the increasing demand for non-polluting fuels, especially in the European market.
Alongside Morocco, Mauritania ranks second in this field with an expected capacity of 54.60 gigawatts, while Oman comes in fourth with a capacity of 30.85 gigawatts. On the other hand, Egypt ranks eighth with a production capacity of 25.77 gigawatts.
This strategic regional Arab dominance highlights the ambitious goal to utilize abundant natural resources and ideal climate conditions to secure a substantial share of the global green hydrogen market.
