Gov’t Council Takes Note of Agreement on Establishing ICMPD Permanent Representation in Morocco

The Government Council, meeting Thursday under the chairmanship of the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, took note of the agreement concluded between the government and the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), relating to the establishment of a permanent representation of the Center in the Kingdom, as well as the draft law 59.22 approving this agreement.

The two texts were presented by the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.

Concluded on November 10, 2022 in Rabat, this agreement aims to strengthen the friendly relations between the Kingdom and the ICMPD and to give an institutional character to the cooperation between the two parties in the field of migration, Baitas said at a press briefing held after the Council.

Under this agreement, the International Center for Migration Policy Development is working to implement projects and programs in the main areas of common interest, including capacity building in Morocco and the provision of support and advice to the Kingdom of the necessary technical assistance in this field, in a framework of coordination, consultation and exchange of information with the relevant Moroccan authorities.
