The China–Africa Institute in Casablanca hosted the 21st edition of the Ambassadors Forum, with over forty researchers and experts participating in a meeting dedicated to highlighting the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People’s Republic of China. Li Changlin, former Chinese Ambassador to Rabat, delivered the keynote speech, reflecting on a full decade of bilateral cooperation.

In his address, aptly titled, Li Changlin emphasized that the strategic partnership, established ten years ago, marked a pivotal turning point in China-Morocco relations, evolving from traditional coordination to practical, multidimensional cooperation, particularly through Morocco’s active engagement in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The former ambassador stressed that Morocco is a reliable strategic partner for China in Africa, citing a range of advantages that place it in a leading position within the initiative, including its strategic geographic location, political and social stability, modern infrastructure, economic openness, and skilled human resources factors that directly contributed to the success of numerous joint projects.
Li Changlin also discussed future cooperation prospects, noting that significant room for growth remains, particularly in the fields of economy, education, and infrastructure. He emphasized the need to strengthen investment in knowledge, scientific research, and academic exchange to serve the long-term strategic interests of both countries.
Following the keynote, the former ambassador engaged in an open discussion with researchers, addressing practical issues such as creating employment opportunities in Morocco, developing traditional Chinese medicine, and the role of cultural and scientific cooperation in consolidating the strategic partnership, stressing that relations between states are built not only through agreements but also through human and cultural interaction.
It is worth noting that Li Changlin is among the most influential diplomats who have given a strong impetus to China-Morocco relations, playing a pivotal role in expanding cooperation into key sectors such as automotive, clean energy, and textiles, while visiting different regions of the Kingdom and engaging with local stakeholders.
These efforts have positively impacted official relations between Rabat and Beijing and strengthened popular ties and mutual understanding between the two peoples, laying the foundations for a strong and sustainable strategic partnership.
