Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita received Friday in Rabat President of Senegal’s National Assembly Mr. El Malick Ndiaye.

In a statement to the press following his talks with Mr. Bourita, the Senegalese official reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting the Royal Initiative for Atlantic Africa, which aims to bolster security, stability and shared prosperity in the region.

In this regard, the President of the Senegalese National Assembly said that his parliamentary institution is currently preparing a second session in Dakar for April or May to launch the operationalization of this very important process with 28 countries along the Atlantic coast.

This process, initiated in favor of landlocked African countries in need of access to port and airport infrastructure, reflects values of solidarity and sharing between countries of the continent and proves that Africa has taken its destiny into its own hands, he added.

On the issue of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, Ndiaye reaffirmed Senegal’s unwavering position of support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan autonomy initiative. In this regard, he congratulated the Kingdom following the adoption by the UN Security Council of Resolution 2797 on the Moroccan Sahara, while reiterating Senegal’s consistent support on the topic.

Referring to his talks with Mr. Bourita, the Senegalese official said that the two sides discussed issues of common interest, including strengthening cooperation between Senegal and Morocco, particularly in the economic, social, religious, and cultural fields.

He also welcomed the excellent relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of high-level bilateral visits to further reinforce South-South cooperation, highlighting the significance of the upcoming visit to Morocco by the Senegalese Prime Minister, as part of the 15th Joint High Commission, now represented at the level of heads of government.
Mr. Ndiaye then highly commended the Kingdom for its excellent hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations (Morocco-2025), an edition which, according to him, “will go down in the history of world football and inspire many other countries around the world.”
