European Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs, Dubravka Šuica, emphasized today, following her meeting with Nasser Bourita, that Morocco represents an important strategic partner for the European Union, highlighting its central role as a bridge for cooperation between Europe and Africa.
Šuica stated that Morocco is one of the most advanced countries and serves as a model partner for the European Union in the region. She noted that the relations between the two sides are strong and distinguished, and that the EU seeks to deepen and expand them across various economic, political, and social sectors.
The European Commissioner added that Morocco will serve as a role model for future strategic agreements that the EU plans to establish with other countries in the region, emphasizing that Morocco’s successful experience provides a framework to build upon for expanding cooperation with countries such as Tunisia and Jordan.
She also highlighted that Morocco’s geographic position and its role in connecting the Mediterranean to Africa make it an indispensable partner, not only for Europe but also for promoting stability and development at the regional level. Šuica noted that this advanced partnership with Morocco will provide a sustainable framework for future cooperation in multiple areas, including the green economy, renewable energy, and cultural and social exchanges.
These statements confirm the EU’s growing interest in strengthening its relations with Morocco, which has become a model to follow in the region and a key actor in stability and development, capable of expanding the prospects for Euro-African cooperation in the years ahead.
