The United States Begins Its Largest Deportation Campaign of Illegal Algerian Immigrants – Will the Algerian Regime Dare to Refuse?

ALDAR/

The United States has launched the largest mass deportation operation of illegal immigrants in its history, targeting thousands of individuals from various nationalities, including hundreds of Algerians. These measures come as part of the strict immigration policies adopted by the current U.S. administration under President Donald Trump.

White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt announced the commencement of deportation flights for illegal immigrants, with images circulating of people lining up to board military planes. Although few details were provided, her statement suggests that these operations began under President Donald Trump’s administration.

So far, Algerian authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the reception of their deported citizens from the United States. It is worth noting that Algeria has previously expressed reservations about accepting deported illegal immigrants from European countries, particularly France, insisting on evidence proving their nationality before agreeing to their return.

Algeria has shown greater strictness in dealing with deportation requests from France, demanding conclusive proof of the deportees’ nationality before approving their repatriation. This stance has sometimes led to diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Analysts believe that Algeria’s differing reactions to deportation operations from the United States and France stem from several factors, including the historical and colonial relationship between Algeria and France, as well as the presence of a large Algerian community in France, which makes migration issues more sensitive and complex.

As the United States continues to implement its strict policies against illegal immigration, the question remains: How will the affected countries, such as Algeria, handle the return of their deported citizens? And will Algeria dare to refuse their reception?
