Throne Speech 2025: How the King Outlined the Features of Tomorrow’s Morocco with Confidence and Determination

By Ghita Hafiani – ALDAR

In a nationally symbolic moment filled with deep historical significance, King Mohammed VI delivered a speech on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of his accession to the throne, in which he laid out the contours of an integrated strategic vision for the Morocco of the future. The speech marked the beginning of a new phase of institutional development, economic growth, social justice, and openness to the Kingdom’s regional and international environment.

This year’s Throne Speech was far from a traditional ceremonial address or a mere review of achievements. Instead, it conveyed strong and direct messages reflecting the King’s unwavering will to steer the country towards a more inclusive and sustainable development model. Beneath the reassuring tone of the address, a clear roadmap emerged, built on three fundamental pillars: accelerating development, deepening social justice, and reinforcing regional openness.

The first pillar emphasized by the King was the need to boost economic takeoff by supporting productive sectors and encouraging both national and foreign investment, in line with global transformations and the digital shift. The King gave particular importance to the continued implementation of the new Investment Charter, linking it to administrative reform, enhanced transparency, and institutional efficiency, in order to secure a more attractive and competitive business environment.

On the social front, the King renewed his strong commitment to strengthening the foundations of social and territorial justice, particularly through the full implementation of the royal project to generalize social protection, and the expansion of access to health coverage and family allowances. He also stressed the need to improve education, healthcare, and employment, as they are essential pillars to uphold citizens’ dignity and build a resilient middle class.

Regionally, the King sent clear messages reaffirming Morocco’s openness and readiness to develop balanced partnerships with its Maghreb, African, and European surroundings. He highlighted the Kingdom’s strategic position as a gateway between Africa and Europe, and as a responsible actor within the Mediterranean and international spheres. The King expressed Morocco’s willingness to advance regional stability and peace, while remaining firmly committed to its national constants and supreme interests—foremost among them, the Moroccan Sahara issue.

This year’s Throne Speech was not merely a directive—it stood as a strategic political document signaling the start of a new phase of structural reforms. It redefined the relationship between the citizen and the state based on participation, dignity, and trust. The speech also reflected the depth of the King’s forward-looking vision—one closely aligned with the heartbeat of Moroccan society and the aspirations of its younger generations for a more just and prosperous Morocco.

In conclusion, King Mohammed VI’s speech carried a message of hope, but also a call to responsibility—addressed to all political, economic, and social actors—to collectively engage in building the Morocco of tomorrow: a Morocco of justice, opportunity, and leadership in an increasingly complex and fast-changing world.
