In a new sign of growing global confidence in Morocco’s geoeconomic position and human capital, American technology giant Oracle has announced the launch of a new Research and Development (R&D) center in Casablanca, which will serve as a regional hub for digital innovation and the development of advanced solutions based on cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

According to the company, the new center is expected to employ up to 1,000 Moroccan engineers and technicians by 2027, as part of a long-term vision aimed at making Morocco a strategic base for supporting Oracle’s global digital transformation initiatives.

This project marks a significant milestone in Morocco’s growing presence on the global tech scene. Oracle is clearly betting on the qualified local talent the country offers—especially graduates of engineering schools and technical universities—many of whom have already made their mark at major software and tech firms in Europe and North America.

The Casablanca R&D center will serve as a platform for developing innovative cloud-based software solutions, powered by Oracle Cloud, along with cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity—technologies that are at the heart of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Oracle’s choice of Morocco, and specifically Casablanca, is no coincidence. In recent years, the country has become an increasingly attractive destination for digital companies, thanks to its political and economic stability, advanced infrastructure, and strategic geographic location connecting Europe to sub-Saharan Africa.

Today, Casablanca is Morocco’s economic capital and home to some of the country’s largest tech and industrial zones, such as Technopark and Casanearshore, making it an ideal environment for hosting innovation-driven projects.

This investment also aligns with Morocco’s national vision for developing its digital economy, diversifying its technological partnerships, and training a new generation of engineers and technicians equipped to lead digital transformation projects across the region.

The Moroccan team at the new center will be tasked with an ambitious mission: to design and develop digital solutions with global applicability across various sectors including finance, healthcare, energy, and education. Oracle aims to position the Casablanca hub as a key contributor to its worldwide client base at a time when the shift toward a fully digital economy is accelerating.

In an official statement, Oracle representatives affirmed that “Morocco represents an ideal environment for innovation,” adding that the decision to establish the center in the Kingdom is part of a broader strategy to democratize innovation and extend it to emerging markets.

By choosing Morocco to host this advanced R&D center, Oracle reaffirms a growing global recognition: Moroccan talent is no longer seen merely as a local asset, but as an active global player in the tech world. This investment is expected to open new horizons for Moroccan youth in the fields of innovation, research, and digital entrepreneurship, while reinforcing Morocco’s ambition to become a leading regional digital hub in the coming years.
