Coinciding with China’s National Day on October 1, President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called on the nation to continue working diligently and move forward with determination in the path of Chinese-style modernization, emphasizing that the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation requires perseverance and self-reliance.
Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during a reception held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, attended by senior party and state leaders and around 800 Chinese citizens and foreign guests.
In his speech, Xi highlighted the remarkable achievements China has made over the past seven decades under the leadership of the CPC and the efforts of the Chinese people.
He noted that the recent commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global fight against fascism inspired patriotic spirit and strengthened the nation’s resolve to continue advancing.
He stated that despite a complex international environment this year, China has achieved new progress in deepening comprehensive reforms, promoting high-quality development, and improving people’s well-being. Xi added that the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, scheduled for next month, will examine proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) to ensure steady progress toward socialist modernization.
The Chinese president also reaffirmed adherence to the “one country, two systems” policy in Hong Kong and Macao, rejected any separatist attempts toward so-called “Taiwan independence,” and emphasized China’s commitment to genuine multilateralism. He highlighted China’s global initiatives in development, security, civilization, and governance, and stressed cooperation with other countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
