A Suspicious Convoy on the Road to Gaza: When Solidarity Turns into a Poisoned Dagger and an Attack on Morocco’s Territorial Integrity

ALDAR / Analysis
In a provocative and disturbing scene, what was dubbed an Algerian-Tunisian “solidarity convoy” headed towards the Gaza Strip has come under scrutiny after its hollow slogans were quickly exposed. It was revealed that the convoy used a fragmented map of the Kingdom of Morocco, deliberately excluding its southern provinces from the national territory. This act cannot be seen as a mere oversight or innocent mistake—it is a deliberate and blatant action that exposes the true motives behind such initiatives. Cloaked in the guise of “humanitarian support,” these actions often carry political poison and open hostility towards Morocco’s territorial unity.
The Palestinian cause has always been, and continues to be, a fundamental pillar of Morocco’s foreign policy, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee. Morocco’s support for Palestine is a principled position, deeply rooted in historical and popular legacy, grounded in the belief in the justness of the Palestinian cause and the necessity of supporting its people in the face of occupation and suffering.
However, the exploitation of this noble cause by parties known for their persistent hostility toward the Kingdom, and the transformation of solidarity into a platform for hostile messaging against Morocco, marks a serious deviation from the essence of Arab and Islamic unity. It is a moral betrayal of the victims of occupation, whose suffering should inspire unity among peoples—not fuel discord and division.
What happened in this convoy is not a marginal detail, but rather a blatant political act that contradicts all ethical values that should underpin humanitarian efforts. The use of a map of Morocco stripped of its Sahara is a clear assault on national sovereignty, an unacceptable provocation to Moroccan sentiment, and a hostile message that hides malicious intentions extending far beyond Palestine to target Morocco’s unity and stability.
The deliberate exclusion of the Moroccan flag among those decorating the convoy’s vehicles is yet another indicator of the suspicious nature of this initiative. It bears little relation to genuine support for the Palestinian people and instead serves as a tool for political score-settling and advancing hostile agendas—chiefly that of Algeria, which continues its campaign against Morocco’s territorial integrity.
What makes this even more alarming are reports that the convoy may be infiltrated by elements affiliated with regimes that use the Palestinian cause as a political card. Chief among these is the Algerian regime, which consistently exploits regional and international platforms to spread separatist rhetoric by supporting the Polisario militias—even at the cost of commodifying the suffering of the Palestinian people.
What occurred should not pass in silence. It is not merely an attack on Morocco, but a blatant exploitation of a sacred and central cause—used as a cover for aggression and a platform to conspire against the unity of an Arab nation that has always stood at the forefront of defending Palestine.
How can one speak of genuine solidarity with Gaza while stabbing a fellow Arab country in the back at the same time? How can those who erase Morocco’s map and spread separatist falsehoods claim to be supporting the Palestinian cause?
Morocco—its people and its institutions—will not tolerate such mockery or underhanded tactics aimed at sowing confusion and delivering blows from behind. The Palestinian cause, which Moroccans have always supported with sincerity and sacrifice, cannot be hijacked by those who exploit it to undermine the unity of their brothers. What happened with this convoy is a stark example of toxic solidarity and the malicious misuse of liberation causes by regimes obsessed with hostility towards Morocco—even at the expense of the dignity of suffering peoples.
The response to such deception and propaganda should go beyond condemnation. It must involve a firm political and media counteraction—one that exposes the true intentions behind these suspicious initiatives, which aim to distort facts, sow discord, and undermine the foundations of Arab solidarity at a time when we are in dire need of genuine unity, not conspiracies disguised in false slogans.
