Scandal… Uganda Donates 500 Tons of Milk Powder to Algeria: What Does the Failure of the Algerian Military Regime Hide?

ALDAR/
In a scene that provokes both ridicule and sadness, Uganda has come forward to donate five hundred tons of milk powder to the Algerian regime, a clear indication of the catastrophic failure this regime suffers in managing its country’s affairs. How can a country rich in natural resources like Algeria find itself in a position where it receives “charity” food aid from an African country with modest means?
This “charity” is nothing but a miniature reflection of the multiple crises Algeria is experiencing on all economic and social levels, a blatant proof that the economic policies pursued are incapable of securing the most basic necessities of life for its citizens. The regime, which failed to achieve self-sufficiency in basic foodstuffs, clung to rentier policies that squandered wealth and failed to create strong economic infrastructures, making the country shamefully dependent on external aid.
What makes matters worse is that the Algerian regime does not hesitate to present itself as strong and cohesive, yet behind the scenes it needs “charity” to face internal crises that deepen day by day. While some countries boast of developing their economies and diversifying income sources, Algeria remains mired in a disastrous deficit, to the point where it accepts aid from countries that are economically and politically less significant.
This step taken by the Ugandan regime reflects diplomatic and political weakness, as Algeria, instead of being a strong partner in its African neighborhood, has become a needy recipient, striking at the principle of national sovereignty and exposing the fragility of the ruling authority.
In reality, this “charity” of milk powder is not merely a humanitarian matter, but a scandal revealing the accumulated failures of the Algerian regime in managing its country’s economy and securing the needs of its people, as well as the absence of a clear vision for a future that guarantees economic independence and spares the country from humiliation and reliance on others. Algeria today needs radical reforms, not charity that exposes the flaws of policies that for decades have been marked by waste, corruption, and negligence.
