Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline Project Attracts U.S. Interest

Nigerian Finance Minister Wale Edun has revealed strong American interest in contributing to the financing of the major energy project — the gas pipeline linking Morocco and Nigeria.
The minister indicated that this interest emerged during discussions he held with U.S. officials, as well as meetings with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, during his recent visit to the United States.
This development is seen as a sign that Washington views the project as an opportunity to strengthen its economic presence in West Africa and to support the energy development dynamics led by both Morocco and Nigeria.
The Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project, stretching over thousands of kilometers, is regarded as a vital pillar for enhancing energy security both in Africa and Europe, by connecting Nigeria’s rich gas resources to the European market through Morocco.
With the United States now showing interest, the project gains an additional international dimension, which could accelerate its implementation and provide it with substantial financial and technical support.
This latest development further confirms that the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline is not merely a regional ambition, but a bold initiative that resonates within major global decision-making circles.
