Tim Reid, Chief Executive Officer of the UK Export Finance agency (UKEF), held a productive meeting with Brahim Benmoussa, Secretary General of Morocco’s Ministry of Investment, Convergence, and Policy Evaluation. The meeting focused on exploring avenues of cooperation between the two countries—both within Morocco and across the African continent.
Held in a positive and forward-looking atmosphere, the meeting came as part of the growing momentum in UK-Morocco economic relations, especially following London’s allocation of up to £5 billion in funding to support strategic projects in Morocco. The discussions served as a platform to consider how this financial envelope could be utilized not only for domestic development but also to expand collaboration into promising African markets, where Morocco enjoys a strong reputation as an economic gateway.
Both parties emphasized the importance of directing this cooperation toward vital sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, digital transformation, and transport—areas that align with Morocco’s national development priorities and enhance its appeal as a regional investment hub.
Tim Reid expressed the UK agency’s commitment to playing a larger role in supporting Moroccan development through flexible and effective financial guarantees. These guarantees aim to encourage British companies to deepen their presence in Morocco and Africa, especially given the Kingdom’s stable investment climate, which Reid praised as a key advantage.
For his part, Secretary General Benmoussa highlighted that this collaboration reflects the UK’s confidence in Morocco’s business environment. He affirmed Rabat’s readiness to facilitate initiatives that strengthen economic integration between the two nations and open new horizons for shared development across Africa.
These consultations are expected to yield tangible projects in the coming months, further reinforcing Morocco’s position as a strategic economic partner for the UK in North and West Africa.
